Box Score 2 Bridgette Sappington held 10th-ranked Indianapolis to three hits in pitching Rockhurst to a 1-0 victory over the Greyhounds in the second game of a conference doubleheader Sunday at Loyola Park.
Sappington struck out six in winning her 12th game of the season. She escaped a bases loaded situation with no outs in the second inning by getting a strikeout and two groundouts.
The Hawks scored in the fifth inning with a leadoff walk, passed ball, wild pitch and a sacrifice fly from
Lexie Zuniga.
In the first game, Indianapolis scored three runs in the seventh to rally for a 3-1 victory. The Greyhounds singled four times off
Shannon Greene and Sappington in the seventh.
Lauren Marks hit a solo home run to left field in the second for Rockhurst.
The Hawks (17-15, 6-2 GLVC) host Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday (April 1).
