Box Score 2 Rockhurst opened the conference season by scoring 16 runs in a doubleheader sweep over the Bellarmine Knights Saturday in Louisville, Ky.
The Hawks won the first game, 9-1, behind a six-run second inning.
Hannah Pyle and
Payton Staggs each collected two hits and two RBIs to lead the Rockhurst offense.
Lauren Marks went 3-for-3 and drove in a run.
Kelsey Tepen capped the scoring with a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Shannon Greene (3-7) allowed one run on five hits over 5.0 innings.
In the second game, Rockhurst collected 14 hits in a 7-4 win over the Knights.

Lauren Cairo hit a three-run home run in the second and Pyle smashed a three-run homer in the third.
Bridgette Sappington (8-3) allowed one run on four hits in 5.1 innings.
The Hawks (12-12, 2-0 GLVC) play two games at Southern Indiana on Sunday.
