Box Score 2 Rockhurst wrapped up the 2016 season with a pair of wins over McKendree, 5-4 in 14 innings and 13-5, Sunday on Senior Day at Loyola Park.
The Hawks won the first game with a walk-off single by
Caroline Lipp in the bottom of the 14th inning. It was Rockhurst's second win at home in 14 innings this season.
Bridgette Sappington held McKendree scoreless on three hits over the final five innings to get the win in relief of starter
Shannon Greene.
Kelsey Tepen went 5-for-6 at the plate with an RBI double in the sixth.
Lexie Zuniga drove in two runs with a single in the third.
Lonnie Groves added two hits, including a game-tying single the seventh.
In the second game, the Hawks won on a run rule while scoring five runs in the fifth inning. Tepen ended the game with a three-run double to left-center.
Lauren Cairo went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run in the first. Tepen drove in five runs on two hits.
Rachel Evans and
Taylor Rupe each posted three runs. Sappington (13-12) allowed five runs on eight hits in 4.0 innings with one strikeout.
