Box Score 2 Rockhurst swept Drury for the second day in a row at Loyola Park on Sunday to move into a tie for first place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division. The Hawks rallied for an 8-3 victory in the first game and cruised to an 11-7 win in the second game behind a 13-hit attack.
Alex Merithew held the Panthers scoreless on two hits over the final 5.1 innings to pick up his third win of the season.
Joey Mancuso,
David Stober and
Wylson Lamb each had two hits. Mancuso drove in a run with a bunt single in the second. Stober walked with the bases loaded in the fourth. Lamb capped the scoring with a three-run home run in the sixth.
In the second game, the Hawks scored four runs in the fifth. Joey Mancusco singled home the first run and
Nic Mertes hit a two-run single.
Jeremy Lufft hit a two-run home run in the sixth to give the Hawks a 6-2 lead. Rockhurst scored four more runs in the seventh to take a 10-4 lead.
Henry Weiler led the Hawks with three hits and one RBI.
Seth Soto and Lufft each collected two hits.
Andrew Ellwanger (3-2) allowed four runs on eight hits in 6.1 innings with two strikeouts and no walks.
Rockhurst (23-18, 14-6 GLVC) remains undefeated at home with an 8-0 record. The Hawks play a single game at Pittsburg State on Tuesday, April 26 and travel to GLVC West co-leader Quincy on April 30-May 1.
