Box Score 2 Bridgette Sappington threw a complete game five-hitter to lead Rockhurst to a 5-1 victory over Wisconsin-Parkside in the second game of a conference doubleheader Sunday in Somers, Wisconsin. Sappington struck out six and walked one in winning her 10th game of the season.
The Hawks scored all five of their runs in the fourth inning.
Kelsey Tepen posted a two-run double.
Hannah Pyle,
Taylor Rupe and
Caroline Lipp added RBI singles.
Lauren Cairo and Lipp each had two hits to lead the Hawks.
Parkside scored five runs in the first inning to lead the Rangers to a 5-3 win in the first game. The Hawks outhit Parkside, 8-4.
Cairo hit a solo home run in the fourth. The Hawks scored two unearned runs in the seventh.
Gabbie Boerema led the Hawks with two hits.
Shannon Greene (8-14) allowed five runs on four hits in 6.0 innings with four strikeouts and three walks.
The Hawks (18-26, 11-15 GLVC) host Illinois Springfield on Saturday (April 23).
