Box Score 2 Alex Hill hit a three-run double in the sixth inning to lead Rockhurst to a 4-1 victory over Lewis in the first game of a conference doubleheader Saturday in Romeoville, Illinois.
Hill's game-winning double to left-center was set up on a single by
Lexie Zuniga and back-to-back walks to
Caroline Lipp and
Kelsey Tepen. The Hawks tied the score at 1-1 on a sacrifice bunt by
Gabbie Boerema in the fifth.
Zuniga led the Hawks with three hits. Hill and
Lauren Cairo each collected two hits.
Shannon Greene allowed one run on six hits in 7.0 innings while recording 14 groundball outs in posting her eighth win of the season.
Lewis hit a walk-off three-run home run to edge the Hawks, 6-5, in the second game. The Hawks took a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh. The Flyers took advantage of an error to score four runs on three hits in the seventh.
Boerema hit a solo home run in the third and gave Rockhurst a 5-2 lead with an RBI single in the sixth.
Madison Wagner,
Hannah Pyle and Hill added RBI singles. Boerema led the Hawks with three hits.
Madison Wagner, Tepen and Hill each posted two hits.
Greene (8-13) took the loss in relief of starter
Bridgette Sappington. The Hawks (17-25, 10-14 GLVC) play at Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday (April 17).
