Hawks ride Weiler's arm for 2-1 win at Jewell

Henry Weiler held Jewell to two hits in winning his fourth game of the season.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Henry Weiler threw a complete game two-hitter to lead Rockhurst to a 2-1 victory over William Jewell in the second game of a conference-opening doubleheader Friday at Talley Stadium in Liberty, Missouri.

Weiler (4-1) struck out two and did not issue any walks while inducing Jewell into 11 groundball outs. Weiler also drove in the winning run with a single in the fifth.

David Stober and Garrett Weber led the Hawks with two hits apiece. Weber gave Rockhurst a 1-0 lead with a run-scoring single in the fourth.

Jewell won the first game, 10-2, while posting 10 hits and four extra-base hits. The Cardinals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

Brandon Mikulka paced the Hawks with two hits. Alex Merithew (2-3) allowed four runs on two hits in 1.1 innings.

The Hawks (10-13, 1-1 GLVC) will play another twinbill at William Jewell Saturday afternoon.
