Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Rockhurst exploded for six runs in the first inning on the way to a 9-1 victory over Union (Tenn.) on the second day of the NCAA Division II Gulf Coast Invitational Saturday in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Taylor Rupe hit a two-run double to start the first inning rally. Lonnie Groves and Kelsey Tepen each singled home a pair of runs. Megan Freitag added a two-run home run in the third.

Groves led the Hawks with three hits. Bridgette Sappington (2-0) held Union on one run on five hits over five innings.

Rockhurst suffered a 4-0 loss to Southern Nazarene earlier Saturday. Alex Hill provided the lone hit for the Hawks with a triple in the third inning.

The Hawks (2-2) will close out tournament against Alabama-Huntsville on Sunday morning in Gulf Shores.
