Box Score 2 Rockhurst suffered a pair of losses on the first day of the 8-State Classic Friday in Bentonville, Arkansas. The Hawks opened the tournament with a 10-3 loss to Northwest Missouri State and later fell by a 7-5 score to Northeastern State.
The Hawks (2-5) will play Ouachita Baptist and Missouri Southern on Saturday in Bentonville.
Northwest Missouri State 10, Rockhurst 3A seven-run seventh inning led the Bearcats past the Hawks. Northwest Missouri took a 3-2 lead into the seventh after hitting a solo home run in the fifth.
Emily Truitt led the Hawks with two hits, including a solo home run in the seventh.
Caroline Lipp posted an RBI double in the first and
Lexie Zuniga hit a solo home run in the fourth.
Bridgette Sappington (2-1) allowed four earned runs on eight hits in 7.0 innings.
Northeastern State 7, Rockhurst 5The Hawks took a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh. The RiverHawks rallied to score four runs, capped by a walk-off three-run homer with one out in the seventh.

Rockhurst scored three runs in third inning to tie the score. The Hawks took a 4-3 lead in the fifth on a run-scoring single by
Hannah Pyle and added an insurance run on an RBI single by
Taylor Rupe in the seventh.
Pyle led the Hawks with three hits and two RBIs.
Shannon Greene (0-4) allowed seven runs on eight hits in 6.1 innings.
