Box Score 2 Lauren Cairo led the Rockhurst offense with two hits and three RBI to lead the Hawks to an 8-4 victory over Wisconsin-Parkside in the second game of a doubleheader Monday at Loyola Park. The Hawks dropped the opener, 4-3.
Cairo hit a three-run double in the fifth inning to give the Hawks an 8-3 lead. The inning was set up by an error, a single and a batter hit by pitch.
Rockhurst scored five runs on five hits in the second.
Demi Plathe hit a solo home run to start the rally.
Danielle Cross and
Madison Wagner added RBI singles.
Bridgette Sappington (19-9) allowed 11 hits while striking out six and walking four over seven innings.
In the first game, the Rangers scored two runs in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead. Plathe (5-7) gave up three runs on four hits over 4.1 innings.
Sarah Sebestyen led the Hawks with three hits.
Alex Hill added two hits with an RBI. Cairo hit a solo home run in the sixth.
Rockhurst, 24-18 and 14-12 in the GLVC, will play at McKendree on Saturday, April 25.
