Box Score 2 Bridgette Sappington captured her eighth consecutive start to carry Rockhurst to a 5-2 victory over Truman State in the second game of a doubleheader Friday in Kirksville, Mo. Truman won the first game, 10-2, in six innings.
Sappington (17-5) held the Bulldogs to four hits while striking out five and walked three in pitching her 13th complete game of the season.
The Hawks scored four runs on three hits in the second inning.
Kelsey Tepen singled home a run and
Kelsey Dean added an RBI double. Rockhurst finished with eight hits.
Madison Wagner, Dean and Tepen each posted two hits.
In the first game, Truman scored six runs in the first and three in the third off starter
Demi Plathe (4-6).
Sarah Sebestyen led the Hawks with two hits, including an RBI double.
Rockhurst, 21-13 and 12-8 in the GLVC, will play at Quincy on Saturday, April 11.
