The Hawks will begin their first action since returning from Nashville, Tenn., with a record of 3-3 as they take on Bemidji State today at 10:00 a.m. in doubleheader action. Throughout the Nashville series with Tiffin and Illinois Springfield, Rockhurst was able to go 3-2.

The Hawks won the first matchup against UIS, 5-2, in an extra-inning thriller. The game lasted four hours and 30 minutes and took 15 innings to complete. Redshirt senior
Jake Jones came up with the clutch hit in the top of the 15th. With the bases loaded and two outs, he was able to hit a two-run double down the right field line. Sophomore
Grant Otte earned the win in his relief effort.

In game one action versus Tiffin, the Hawks fell to the Dragons 3-1. The Tiffin pitching staff was able to hold the Hawks offense to only four hits, while Rockhurst left seven runners on base. Freshman
Miles Kilgore took the loss while getting through 5.0 innings, giving up two hits and two earned runs.

In the nightcap of the doubleheader, the Hawks dropped their second game of the day to UIS 8-5. Combined, both teams made seven errors on the day. Senior
Zach Loeffelholz took the loss, going 7.0 innings and allowing seven hit and five runs (four earned).

Rockhurst was able to get back on track the next day when they defeated Tiffin 9-3. Sophomore
Michael Lydon-Lorson had an impressive outing as he threw a complete game for the win. He gave up 11 hits, but was able to hold runners from scoring. He stranded 10 Tiffin runners on base. Rockhurst got some help from inaccurate Dragon pitching as they walked five runs in, in the eighth inning.
Jake Jones led the Hawks' attack, going 2-for-3 with a triple and a walk.

In the final game of the Nashville series, the Hawks bats exploded, coming to life after being held mostly in check all weekend. Rockhurst was able to collect 14 base hits: four singles, seven doubles, two triples and one home run. Senior

Matt Stacks added two hits, a home run and a double. Sophomore
Joe Huber picked up where Lydon-Lorson left off and added his own complete game win. He gave up two hits on the day and struck out seven.

Rockhurst will take on the Bemidji State Beavers in a home game for the Hawks. However, due to wet field conditions, the game has been moved to Topeka, Kan., at Bettis Family Sports Complex. The field at Bettis Family Sports Complex is an artificial turf playing surface.

The Beavers are currently 0-4 on the season. They are coming of a 22-3 loss to ninth-ranked team in D-II, Washburn University, which now moves to 10-0. Head coach Tim Bellew leads Bemidji State. He is the third winningest coach in Bemidji State baseball history and has amassed a 155-274-1 record coming into the 2015 season. The Beavers finished with a 15-15 record in the NSIC and 21-22 record overall.
