Box Score 2 Kelsey Dean singled home two runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Rockhurst a 4-3 victory over Southwest Baptist in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday at Loyola Park. The Hawks won the first game, 5-2.
The Hawks rallied after allowing an unearned run in the top of the seventh.
Lauren Cairo singled with two outs.
Alex Hill walked and
Madison Wagner reached on an infield hit to load the bases. Dean hit a 2-2 pitch to right field to score Cairo and Hill.
Cairo led the Hawks with three hits, including a solo home run in the fifth.
Bridgette Sappington went the distance to collect her third win of the season. She allowed three runs on four hits, while striking out seven and walking four.
Demi Plathe held the Bearcats to one earned run on eight hits to win her third game of the season in the first game. Sappington got the last three outs to pick up her second save of the season.
Madison Wagner hit a two-run double to key a three-run fifth for the Hawks.
Danielle Cross hit an RBI double in the third. Wagner, Hill and Plathe each finished with two hits.
Rockhurst, 6-4, will host Saint Mary on Wednesday in a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
