Box Score 2 The Rockhurst baseball team picked up two losses on Saturday after falling to Tiffin, 3-1 and Illinois Springfield 8-5, at ES Rose Park in Nashville, Tenn., in 45 degree weather.

Freshman
Miles Kilgore got the start in game one against the Dragons and pitched five innings in his collegiate debut. Through his five innings, Kilgore gave up two runs on two hits and struck out three. He was credited with the loss.

The Hawks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the second inning when sophomore third baseman
Seth Soto drew a walk and reached third thanks to good situational hitting. Senior right fielder
Calin McCourt then drove him in with a hit through the right side of the infield.

Leadoff walks were a killer for the Hawks as all three in the game led to runs.Both teams were held to four hits apiece while each team committed two errors.

McCourt paced the Hawks by going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.

In game two, senior
Zach Loeffelholz got the start on the mound. Loeffelholz pitched seven innings, giving up seven hits, five runs (four earned). He also walked two and struck out two while taking the loss.

The Prairie Stars jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Hawks answered back by getting two in the bottom half of the inning. Senior second baseman
Patrick Burns led off with a walk, was sacrificed to second and then driven in by sophomore shortstop
Brett Marr when he hit an RBI single. Marr then scored on an error by the shortstop.

The score remained 2-1 until the fourth inning. With runners on second and third, the Prairie Stars' center fielder Jake Redlinger launched a triple to the wall in right field. He later scored on an RBI groundout to give UIS a 4-2 lead.

Rockhurst was able to answer when McCourt singled to left field. He stole second base and advanced to third on a throwing error by the catcher, then advanced home on a throwing error by the center fielder, all on the same play. With the score at 4-3, neither team could get anything going until the seventh inning.

UIS was able to add one run thanks to an RBI double by second baseman Adam Warda. In the bottom half of the inning, McCourt drove Marr in on an RBI single after Marr stole second base and then was advanced to third on a ball hit to the right side.

The Hawks then gave up two runs in the eighth and one run in the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth, sophomore left fielder
Dylan Brauner and Marr hit back-to-back doubles, scoring one run, but it was too little, too late.

Marr was 3-for-3 on the day and was a home run away from hitting for the cycle. He also stole four bases in the game.
