After six cancelled games, the Rockhurst Hawks return to action on Tuesday (Feb. 24) in their home opener against Northwest Missouri State
. The Hawks are currently 1-3 this season and all three of their losses have been by one run.

Rockhurst finished the 2014 season with a 21-29 overall record and a 16-18 record in the  GLVC. The Hawks received a No. 8 seed in the GLVC Championship Tournament. They lost 1-0 in 13 innings to top-ranked Indianapolis and fell to William Jewell 7-5.

The Hawks opened their season in Bentonville, Ark., in the Arkansas Monticello 8-State Classic. They lost three games out of the shoot before getting their first victory against Missouri Southern (6-5). Every game the Hawks have played in has been a high scoring. Rockhurst is off to a hot start with eight players hitting above .300. Sophomore
Gabbie Boerema leads the Lady Hawks' hitting attack with a .500 batting average and .917 slugging percentage. So far, she has one homerun and five RBI.

Galen Struve enters his 11th season as head coach for the Hawks.Under his watch, the Hawks have won 185 games and earned three berths in the GLVC Tournament over the past 10 seasons.

The Bearcats come to Rockhurst with a 1-3 record. They were scheduled to play in the Pittsburg State Tournament but all four games were cancelled due to inclement weather. Four Bearcats are hitting above .300. Sophomore Torri Blythe leads the team with a .467 batting average, scoring six runs on seven hits. She is also 3 for 3 on stolen bases.

The Bearcats are lead by head coach Ryan Anderson. Entering his 9th season, Anderson has MIAA postseason appearances in seven of eight seasons. His 194 wins are second most in program history, as the Bearcats have won at least 20 games every season, but one.
After the home opener against Northwest Missouri State, the Hawks will host Southwest Baptist in a doubleheader on Saturday (Feb. 28). The Hawks lost to the SBU Bearcats 9-8 earlier this season.
