Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Lauren Cairo doubled home the winning run in the seventh inning to lead Rockhurst to a 6-5 victory over Missouri Southern on the second day of Arkansas-Monticello 8-State Classic Saturday in Bentonville, Ark.

Demi Plathe led the Hawks with three hits and three RBI. Plathe singled home a run in the first and hit a two-run double in the fourth. Gabbie Boerema added a run-scoring single in the third and Madison Wagner drove in a run with a sacrifice bunt in the fourth.

Bridgette Sappington posted her first win of the season. She allowed three runs on eight hits, walking two and striking out one over six innings.

In the Hawks' second game on Saturday, Southern Nazarene defeated Rockhurst 11-1 in a five-inning game. Caroline Lipp homered in the fourth for the Hawks. Wagner collected three of RU's five hits. Plathe pitched three innings and took the loss.

All games on the final day of the 8-State Classic on Sunday were cancelled due to inclement weather. The Hawks opened the season with a 1-3 record.
