Big run leads Hawks to 3-2 win over Emporia State

Preecy Seever led the Hawks with 17 kills and nine blocks.
Box Score Preecy Seever posted 17 kills and nine blocks to power Rockhurst to a 3-2 victory over Emporia State Thursday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks ended the match on a 9-0 run to win the fifth set, 15-6. Katie Loescher and Morgan Rietzke each collected two kills in the run. Rockhurst jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the final set behind three kills from Seever.

Seever, Loescher and Rietzke combined for 19 kills to help the Hawks win the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-15. Emporia State rallied to win the next two sets, 25-18 and 25-21.

Loescher and Rietzke both finished with 14 kills. Lauren Poulicek collected 25 digs and Anne Hellwege added 12 digs. Whitney Kostal tallied 50 assists.

Rockhurst, 5-0, opens conference play at Bellarmine on Saturday.
