Rockhurst gains split with victory in 12 innings

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Rockhurst scored an unearned run with two outs in the bottom of the 12th inning to defeat Quincy 3-2 in the second game of a conference doubleheader Sunday at RU's Loyola Park.

Liz Desloge walked with one out in the 12th and advanced to second on a single by Rachel Evans. A throwing error by Quincy's shortstop on a grounder by Lexie Zuniga scored Desloge with the winning run.

Demi Plathe, Alex Hill, Lauren Cairo and Evans each finished with two hits. Bridgette Sappington (10-12) pitched the final five innings to get the win.
Quincy won the first game 4-3 on a solo home run by Rachel Scrum in the sixth inning. Plathe and Hill led the Hawks with two hits apiece. Cairo drove in two runs. Sappington allowed nine hits over seven innings.

The Hawks, 13-21 and 8-12 in the GLVC, play at a doubleheader at Washburn on Wednesday.
