Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Bridgette Sappington held William Jewell scoreless over 10 innings to carry Rockhurst to 2-0 and 3-1 win over the Cardinals in a conference doubleheader Tuesday at RU's Loyola Park.

Sappington pitched a three-hit shutout in the first game. She struck out four and walked two in improving her record to 14-14. She threw three hitless innings in the second game to get the save.

The Hawks scored both of their runs in the second inning in the first game. Alex Jacobson drove in the second run with a sacrifice bunt. Demi Plathe and Kelsey Dean each posted two hits.

In the second game, Rockhurst grabbed a 2-1 lead in the third on an RBI triple by Plathe and a sacrifice fly from Alex Hill. Lexie Zuniga added a run-scoring double in the sixth. Plathe went 3-for-3 at the plate, while Liz Desloge added two hits. Plathe (5-10) allowed one run on five hits over four innings.

The Hawks, 19-25 and 14-16 in the GLVC, host Drury in a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
