Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Illinois Springfield scored two runs in the sixth inning to edge Rockhurst 3-1 in the first game of a conference doubleheader Friday at RU's Loyola Park.

Alex Hill led the Hawks with two hits and drove in a run with a sacrifice bunt in the second inning. The Prairie Stars got out of a bases loaded, no outs situation in the first inning. Bridgette Sappington (12-14) held Springfield to five hits over seven innings while striking out six.

The Prairie Stars won the second game, 10-0, in a game called after five innings. Springfield scored five runs in both the second and fifth innings. The Hawks were held to three hits, while giving up 10 safeties.

The Hawks, 15-25 and 10-16 in the GLVC, host McKendree in a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
