Jacobson powers Hawks to 6-4 win at Maryville

Alex Jacobson has homered in her last eight games.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Alex Jacobson hit a home run in her eighth consecutive game while driving in four runs to lead Rockhurst to a 6-4 victory over Maryville on Saturday in St. Louis, Mo.

Jacobson's three-run home run in the fourth inning gave the Hawks a 6-3 lead in the fifth inning. She also hit a run-scoring double in the first. Jacobson leads Rockhurst with 10 home runs and 23 RBIs.

Alex Hill posted three hits with a triple. Liz Desloge and Kelsey Dean added two hits apiece. Bridgette Sappington won her ninth game of the season.

Maryville held on to defeat the Hawks 9-7 in the first game. Rockhurst cut the Saints' lead to 8-6 in the fifth on back-to-back home runs by Jacobson and Desloge.

Jacobson, Desloge and Rachel Evans each finished with two hits as the Hawks' outhit Maryville 11-9. Sappington was the losing pitcher.

The Hawks, 12-16 and 7-7 in the GLVC, play a noon doubleheader at 10th-ranked Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday.
