Box Score 2 Alex Jacobson homered to key a three-run rally in the sixth inning to lead Rockhurst to a 5-3 victory in the first game of a non-conference softball twinbill Saturday in Bolivar, Mo. The Bearcats won the second game, 6-5, on a two-run walk-off home run in the seventh inning.
Jacobson's first home run of the season tied the score at 3-3 in the first game.
Kelsey Dean stole home to put the Hawks in front and
Alex Hill singled home the third run of the inning.
Katelyn Bakey led Rockhurst with three hits and a run-scoring single in the fourth. Jacobson and Hill each posted two hits.
Demi Plathe added an RBI double in the fifth.
Bridgette Sappington went the distance to win her third game of the season.
In the second game, the Hawks scored all five of their runs in the fourth. Jacobson led off the fourth with a home run. Boerema had a two-run double and Hill added a two-run homer. Sappington relieved Plathe on the mound in the fifth and took the loss.
Rockhurst, 3-7, opens conference play at Indianapolis on Saturday, March 8.
