Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Freshman Bridgette Sappington threw a two-hit complete game to lead Rockhurst to a 4-1 victory over Pittsburg State on the final day of the 8-State Classic Sunday in Bentonville, Ark.

Sappington struck out five and walked three to earn her second win of the season. She also was the winning pitcher in Rockhurst's 6-1 victory over Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday.

The Hawks scored three runs in the first inning. Katelyn Bakey doubled home a run and Gabbie Boerema hit a two-run double. Rachel Evans added a run-scoring single in the sixth.

Earlier in the day, the Hawks fell to Northwestern Oklahoma State 4-3. The Hawks scored all of their runs in the seventh inning on an RBI double by Boerema and an error brought home two more runs.

Rockhurst, 2-4, will host Fort Hays State on Friday in a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
