Box Score Rockhurst closed out the fifth set on a 9-3 run to post a 3-2 victory over top-seeded Truman State in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Friday in Allendale, Mich.
The fourth-seeded Hawks (28-4) will play third-seeded Grand Valley State in the regional championship match at 6:00 p.m. CST Saturday in Allendale.
Rockhurst jumped out to a 2-0 match lead with 25-16 and 25-21 wins in the first two sets. Truman State came back to win the third and fourth sets, 25-22 and 25-17.Â
Preecy Seever (Olathe, Kan./Olathe Northwest HS) keyed the Hawks' rally in the fifth set with a pair of kills, including the match winner. Seever led the Hawks with 14 kills and nine blocks.
Morgan Rietzke (Kansas City, Mo./Staley HS) and
Alyssa Arnold each tallied 14 kills while combining for 42 digs.
Emily Ready (Smithville, Mo./Smithville HS) added 11 kills.
Anne Hellwege posted a team-high 27 digs and
Lauren Poulicek had 20 digs.
Whitney Kostal added with 55 assists and 10 digs.
