Hawks rally to gain split with William Jewell

Patrick Chandler's two-run double led Hawks to 7-3 win over WJC.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Rockhurst scored six runs in the fifth inning to rally for a 7-3 victory over William Jewell in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday night at RU's Loyola Park. Jewell edged the Hawks, 2-1, in the first game.

Matthew Stacks doubled to lead off the fifth for Rockhurst. Caleb Baker and Jordan Stull both singled home runs to tie the score at 2-2. Patrick Chandler gave the Hawks a 4-2 lead with a two-run double. A wild pitch and balk brought home the final two runs in the inning. Anthony Davis added an RBI single in the seventh. Davis, Stacks and Jordan Eckley each posted two hits in the win. Jake Goessling (2-0) allowed four hits and two runs over five innings.

In the first game, Jewell scored both of its runs in the fifth. The Hawks collected the first of their six hits in the sixth inning. Chandler drove in Rockhurst's lone rune with a single in the eighth. Zach Loeffelholz (0-4) allowed three hits and two runs while waslking five.

The Hawks (11-11, 6-8 GLVC) play a four-game series at Illinois Springfield on Saturday and Sunday.
