Box Score 2 Rockhurst rolled to an 11-1 win over Quincy to complete a doubleheader sweep over Quincy on Sunday at Quincy, Ill. The Hawks won the first game, 3-2, behind a solo home run by freshman
Demi Plathe.
Sadie Applegate and
Sydney Fairfield opened the Rockhurst scoring in the second game with solo home runs.
Natalie Johnson capped a five-run second with a run-scoring double.
Alex Jacobson wrapped up the scoring with a two-run double in the fifth. Johnson led the 15-hit Rockhurst attack with three hits. Applegate,
Debbie Lewis,
Toya Nelson, Plathe, Fairfield and Jacobson each collected two hits. Fairfield, 12-5, allowed two hits and one walk over five innings.
In the first game, Plathe homered to left center to break a 2-2 tie in the top of the eighth. The Hawks tied the score with a two-run single by Fairfield in the sixth. Plathe, who led the Hawks with two hits, was the winning pitcher. She allowed five hits and did not allow any walks in eight innings to improve her record to 5-4.
The Hawks (21-14, 9-10 GLVC) play a noon doubleheader at Missouri S&T on Saturday, April 20.
