Milton Doyle scored a season-high 24 points as Loyola Chicago earned an 83-65 victory over Rockhurst Tuesday night at Loyola's Gentile Arena. The Ramblers shot 55 percent from the field to snap a two-game losing skid.
The win improved Loyola's record to 2-2. Rockhurst's record stays at 2-1 since the game counted as an exhibition game for the Hawks.
"Rockhurst is a great shooting team and wouldn't go away so I give them a lot of credit," Loyola head coach Porter Moser said.
Rockhurst rallied from a 26-9 deficit to pull without 41-30 at halftime. The Hawks got within 10 points, 47-37, with 15:57 remaining in the game. A bucket by Nick Osborne sparked a 9-2 Loyola run that extended the lead to 56-39.
The Hawks were led by
Brandon McCann's 15 points on six-of-13 shooting. He canned three-of-six three-point shots.
Russell Burns hit four-of-six shots to finish with 10 points.
Liam Duffy added nine points on three three-pointers.
Rockhurst travels to Topeka, Kan., on Thursday to meet the Washburn Ichabods in a 7 p.m. tip.
