No. 24 Hawks end season at NCAA Regional

The Rockhurst men's basketball team fell short in the first round of the NCAA Midwest Regional Saturday at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. Northern Michigan rallied from a seven-point deficit in the final minute to edge the Hawks, 86-85.

The Hawks led 38-31 at halftime and jumped out to a 12-point lead four different times in the second half. Jaylen Wesley made two free throws with 39 seconds left to give Rockhurst an 83-76 lead. NMU ended the game on a 10-2 run to advance to the second round.

Drenin Dinkins tied a career-high in points with 35 and added five rebounds on 50 percent shooting (10-of-20) from the field and from three (3-of-6). Wesley finished with 23 points and seven rebounds on 50 percent (10-of-20) shooting from the floor.


Jaden Flournoy scored 11 points. Micah Deaver notched seven points and Dillon Mong added six points off the bench.


The Hawks shot 50.9 percent (28-of-55) from the floor and 20 percent (3-of-15) from three. Rockhurst was also 72.2 percent (26-of-36) from the free-throw line. Rockhurst ended the season with a 23-7 record and ranked 24th in the final NABC D2 poll.
