The Rockhurst women's lacrosse team will be making their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament since the program's inaugural season in 2014.

The 24th-ranked Hawks (12-4) earned the No. 6 seed in the Midwest Regional and will face third-seeded Regis University (14-5) in a first-round game at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Maryville Lacrosse Field in St. Louis, Missouri.

Rockhurst finished third in the GLVC behind Indianapolis and Maryville. The Hawks lost to eighth-ranked Maryville, 18-12, in the semifinals of the GLVC Tournament in Indianapolis last Friday.

This will be the second meeting between Rockhurst and Regis this season. The 20th-ranked Rangers posted an 11-7 win over the Hawks in Denver on March 11.

The NCAA field expanded to 24 teams last year with six teams from each of the four regions earning NCAA berths. In the Midwest Region, automatic-qualifying bids were earned by the GLVC (Indianapolis), the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (Ashland) and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (Regis).

The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds from each of the four regions will host first- and second-round competitions on Thursday, May 7, and Saturday, May 9. The winners of the eight second-round games will advance to the quarterfinal-round where the highest remaining seed in each region will host the competition on Saturday, May 16.

The semifinals and final will be conducted Thursday, May 21 and Saturday, May 23. The championship will take place at Judson Stadium in Rochester, New York, hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology and Visit Rochester.
