Rockhurst posts 12-6 win over WJC on Senior Day

Rockhurst wrapped up the regular season with a 12-6 come-from-behind victory over William Jewell Saturday on Senior Day at Loyola Park. The Hawks split the four-game series with Jewell to split two points in the KC Crown rivalry.

The Hawks (30-18, 18-14 GLVC) will enter the GLVC Championship Tournament as the eight seed and will play fifth-seeded Illinois Springfield at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Marion, Illinois.

Rockhurst rallied from a 6-1 deficit in the fourth inning. The Hawks scored three runs in the fourth, two in the fifth, four in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

Josh Syfert led off the sixth with a home run to give the Hawks a 7-6 lead. Avery Garmon hit an RBI double and Kaden Jeffries drove in two runs with a double.

Afton Koch and Garmon led the Hawks with three hits apiece. Syfert, Michael Laudando and Colton Wemhoff each had two hits.

Dakota Hanna and Jeffries both posted three RBIs. Hanna drove in two runs with a double in the seventh and Luke Feucht had a two-run double in the fourth.

Trent Clemons (3-3) held Jewell scoreless on two hits and struck out five over 4.0 innings.
