Hawks end weekend with 7-6 loss at Western

Missouri Western scored on a walk-off single in the ninth inning to rally for an 8-7 victory over Rockhurst Sunday in St. Joseph, Missouri.

The Hawks scored five runs in the eighth to take a 7-6 lead. Dakota Hanna and Peyton Clerk posted two-run singles. Avery Garmon added an RBI single in the eighth.

Clerk led Rockhurst with two hits. Afton Koch drove in two runs with a double in the fifth.

Keller Costello blanked the Griffons on one hit and struck out three in 3.0 innings.
 

Friday's Game: Mo West 18, RU 7

The Griffons scored 15 runs on 14 hits in the first four innings to take a 15-0 lead.

RU's Dakota Hanna hit a grand slam in the fifth to cap a six-run inning. Hanna led the Hawks with two hits.

Peyton Clerk had a run-scoring single in the sixth. Josh Syfert added an RBI groundout in the fifth.
