The Rockhurst baseball team posted a pair of wins over Truman State on Saturday to open a four-game series at Loyola Park. The Hawks (25-13, 13-9 GLVC) won the first game, 11-1 in seven innings, and won Game Two, 14-1.
Game 1: RU 11, TSU 1 (7 inn.)
The Hawks scored four runs in the fifth inning and six more in the sixth to take a 10-1 lead.
Michael Laudando, Peyton Clerk and Kaden Jeffries led the Hawks with two hits apiece. Laudando singled home two runs in the fifth and Clerk hit a two-run triple in the sixth.
Dakota Hanna drove in two runs with a double in the sixth. Josh Syfert and Jack Miller added RBI singles in the sixth.
Landon Carr (5-4) held the Bulldogs to one run on two hits while strikeout out seven in 6.1 innings.
Game 2: RU 14, TSU 1
The Hawks scored nine runs in the first two innings and added two runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth.
Avery Garmon led the Hawks with three hits and three RBI. He hit a two-run home run in the fourth and an RBI single in the second.
Colton Wemhoff posted a pair of RBI doubles in the first and second. Jeffries drove in three runs with a two-run single in the first and a sacrifice fly in the second.
Miller hit a two-run homer in the sixth and Clerk had a two-run single in the first.
Keller Costello (5-0) went the distance, allowing one run on three hits with eight strikeouts in 7.0 innings.
