Hawks host Jewell in key GLVC matchup

Drenin Dinkins scored his 1,500th career point on Saturday
The Rockhurst Hawks return home to face crosstown rival William Jewell on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Mason-Halpin Field House as part of the KC Cup.

In the GLVC standings, Rockhurst (16-5, 10-3 GLVC) sits a half-game behind first-place Illinois Springfield. William Jewell (13-7, 9-3 GLVC) is a half-game behind Rockhurst. In this week's NABC Top 25 Top 25 national poll, the Hawks received 11 votes.

Rockhurst won a pair of road games at Quincy and Truman State to extend their winning streak to four and are winners of eight of their last nine. The Hawks used second-half runs in both games to secure the wins.

Drenin Dinkins combined 54 points in the two wins. The 6-foot senior guard scored his 1,500th career point in the Truman State game. Jaylen Wesley notched his fourth double-double of the season with 33 points and 15 rebounds at Truman State.

William Jewell has won eight in a row and 10 of their last 11 games. The Cardinals posted a 91-79 win at Truman State on Jan. 29.

The Hawks hold a 91-68 lead in the all-time series. Rockhurst has won two of the last three matchups against William Jewell. The Hawks won 76-59 on Dec. 6 in Liberty, Missouri.
