No. 19 Hawks to finish regular season at home

Rockhurst wraps up the regular season at home against McKendree on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Illinois Springfield on Saturday at 2 p.m. 

With a win over McKendree, the 19th-ranked Hawks secure the program's first GLVC regular season title and the first since sharing the Heartland Conference regular season title in 2003.

Rockhurst is coming off back-to-back road wins over Missouri S&T (65-64) and Lincoln (84-72). The Hawks are on a nine-game winning streak, which ties their longest since 1982.

The Hawks' 21-5 record marks their first 20-win season since 2002. Rockhurst is ranked No. 2 in the first NCAA Midwest Regional rankings released on Wednesday.

Jaylen Wesley led the Hawks with 23 points, eight rebounds, three assists, a block and two steals at Lincoln last Saturday. On Monday, Wesley earned GLVC Player of the Week honors for the fifth time this season.

McKendree (21-5, 14-4 GLVC) are winners of 10 of its last 11, defeating Upper Iowa and Quincy last week. The Bearcats checked in at No. 9 in the Midwest Regional rankings.

McKendree has a 10-6 series lead over Rockhurst dating back to 2014. The Bearcats have won the last nine contests between the two teams, including a double-overtime 95-85 win on Dec. 1, 2025, in Lebanon, Illinois.

Illinois Springfield (17-9, 13-5 GLVC) won 63-58 over Lewis and 82-77 against Upper Iowa last week. The Prairie Stars face William Jewell on Thursday before the regular season finale against Rockhurst.

Rockhurst is 13-9 overall against Illinois Springfield and has won the last two matchups. On Jan. 15, Rockhurst won 84-56 at Springfield.
