The Rockhurst men's basketball team is back in the national rankings for the first time since 2002 and the second time ever as a NCAA Division II institution. Rockhurst is ranked No. 23 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches poll released on Tuesday , Feb. 17.
The Hawks are on a seven-game winning streak and have an overall record of 19-5, their first 19-win season since the 2008-09 season. Rockhurst sits in first place in the GLVC with a 13-3 conference record.
Senior guards Drenin Dinkins and Jaylen Wesley both rank in the top 15 in the nation in scoring. Dinkins is tied for seventh in the nation with an average of 22.8 points per game. Wesley's average of 21.3 points per game is tied for 15th in the nation and has earned GLVC Player of the Week honors four times this season.
The top four teams were unchanged in the rankings from a week ago. Nova Southeastern (No. 1), Cal State Easy Bay (No. 2.), Washburn (No. 3) and Daemen (No.4) remain at the top of the poll. Gannon rounds out the top five in the Top 25 poll.
Rockhurst is back in action on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. when they take on Missouri S&T in Rolla, Missouri.
