Hawks complete series sweep with 13-12 win

Rockhurst completed a three-game sweep of 23rd-ranked Davenport on Sunday with a 13-12 victory over the Panthers at Bourke Field.

The Hawks held off a ninth-inning rally by Davenport. Rockhurst reliever Cade Luetkemeyer got the last out of the game with the bases loaded after the Panthers scored six runs in the ninth.

Rockhurst jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the second inning without getting a hit. Davenport issued nine of their 13 walks in the first two innings.

Afton Koch hit a two-run home run to right field in the sixth and added a run-scoring single in the seventh to give the Hawks a 13-4 lead.

Koch led the Hawks with two hits and four RBI. Avery Garmon collected two hits and two RBI. Michael Laudando scored three runs and had two hits. Gustavo Leon and Peyton Clerk each drove in two runs.

Freshman Keller Costello picked up his first collegiate win, allowing three runs on four with four strikeouts in 5.0 innings.
