The Rockhurst men's golf team returns to action Monday (Oct. 12) as the Hawks travel to Andover, Kansas, for the MIAA/Newman Fall Invitational, hosted by Newman University at Terradyne Country Club.

Rockhurst will be the only Great Lakes Valley Conference team competing in the 13-team field as the Hawks prepare for their second-to-last tournament of the fall season.

The Hawks enter the tournament coming off the MWSU Holiday Inn Express Invitational where they posted rounds of 288, 285 and 300 to finish with a three-round total of 873.

Kingston Solomon has been a standout performer for Rockhurst this fall, leading the Hawks at each of their three fall tournaments. At the MWSU Invitational, Solomon finished tied for 10th individually at two-over par, highlighted by an impressive four-under-par 67 in the opening round. He recorded seven birdies during his opening 18 holes and added four more in the second round. Solomon was particularly effective on the par-5 holes, finishing six-under par to tie for the second-best mark in the tournament field.

Solomon also delivered a strong performance at the Midwest/Central Regional Preview on Sept. 14-15. Competing against a competitive regional field, Solomon finished at two-over par for the tournament while recording two rounds under par. His second-round 69 featured five birdies and helped highlight another impressive showing. At the Regional Preview, Solomon also tied for seventh in par-4 scoring at even par and tied for 11th in par-5 scoring at four-under par. His ability to score on both par-4 and par-5 holes has been a consistent strength throughout the fall.

Rockhurst has also received contributions from several other golfers. Landon McNitt recorded a team-high 14 birdies at the MWSU Invitational, while Lander Guibert collected 28 pars and recorded an eagle on the 18th hole during the final round. Ashton Vinton also helped the Hawks finish the MWSU Invitational on a positive note, matching Guibert with a three-over-par performance in the final round. As a team, Rockhurst recorded 32 birdies, 161 pars and one eagle at the MWSU Invitational. The Hawks showed their potential during the opening two rounds, shooting a combined 573 before a tougher final 18 holes.

Competition begins Monday (Oct. 12) at Terradyne Country Club in Andover, Kansas.
