The Rockhurst men's golf team returns to action Monday (Oct. 19) and Tuesday (Oct. 20) as the Hawks travel to Topeka, Kansas, for the Washburn Fall Invitational at Topeka Country Club. The two-day tournament marks Rockhurst's final competition of the fall season.
Rockhurst enters the tournament coming off its strongest team performance of the fall, finishing fourth out of 16 teams at the Newman/MIAA Fall Invitational last week at Terradyne Country Club in Andover, Kansas. The Hawks posted rounds of 297, 290 and 289 to finish with a three-round total of 876 strokes, improving their score in each round.
Adam Challoner led the way for Rockhurst, finishing tied for third individually at even-par over 54 holes. Kingston Solomon continued his impressive fall campaign with his third consecutive top-10 finish, tying for ninth at 2-over par. After opening with an 8-over-par round, Solomon responded with rounds of 2-under and 4-under par to climb the leaderboard.Â
Rockhurst's projected lineup for the Washburn Fall Invitational features Solomon, Challoner, Vinton, Ben Solum and Lander Guibert. Bryce Renz and Jack Winkler are also expected to compete as individuals.
The Hawks will look to build on last week's strong showing as they wrap up their fall schedule in Topeka, seeking another top team finish before turning their attention to the spring season.
