Four Hawks earn All-Conference honors

Four members of the Rockhurst baseball team earned postseason honors from the Great Lakes Valley Conference, conference officials announced on Tuesday (May 6).

Senior outfielder Adonis Forte and senior utility player Michael Laudando both became All-GLVC First Team honorees for the third time.

Forte was among the team leaders in batting average (.357), hits (56), doubles (14), home runs (7), RBI (43), runs (32), total bases (97), slugging average (.618), on-base percentage (.428) and stolen bases (14).

Laudando started all 48 games as an infielder, outfielder and pitcher. He batted .367 with seven home runs and 44 RBI. On the mound, he collected a 7-3 record, 5.07 ERA and team-high 64 strikeouts in 65.2 innings.

Graduate student pitcher Jake Canent earned Second Team honors, while senior outfielder Matthew Brimacombe received honorable mention recognition.

Canent leads the GLVC in innings pitched (74.1) while posting a 6-3 record with 63 strikeouts and a 4.84 ERA. He was a All-GLVC First Team selection last year.

Brimacombe led the Hawks with a .391 batting average and .487 on-base percentage. He also drove in 26 runs, scored 40 runs and stole a team-high 33 bases.

Senior catcher Patrick Wind was also recognized as the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award winner for Rockhurst. He is now eligible to become one of the school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners.
