Coleman repeats as GLVC Player of the Year

Rockhurst's Ella Coleman has been named the GLVC Player of the Year in Women's Tennis for the second year in a row and was one of four Hawks named to the All-GLVC First Team.

Coleman has a 14-4 overall record and is 3-1 in GLVC action at No. 1 singles. She teamed with Zuzanna Szmyd and Dani Lentisco at No. 1 doubles, going 14-4 overall and 3-2 against GLVC foes.

The sophomore from Bentonville, Arkansas is the highest ranked GLVC player in ITA Division II singles at No. 23 and ranks 35th in Division II in doubles with Szmyd.

Joining Coleman on the All-GLVC First Team from Rockhurst are Sofia Valdespino, Zuzanna Szmyd and Dani Lentisco.

Valdespino has an 11-6 overall in No. 2 singles and is 8-9 overall in doubles. Szmyd sports a 12-5 record in No. 3 singles and 14-4 record in No. 1 doubles. Lentisco holds a 13-3 record in No. 5 singles and 11-5 in doubles.

Szmyd is also Rockhurst's team recipient for the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award.

The Hawks, 14-5 overall and 5-0 in GLVC action, are the top seed in the West Division for the GLVC Tournament and will play in the semifinals of the GLVC Tournament at 9 a.m. Saturday in Springfield, Illinois.
