Men meet UMSL in GLVC Tournament opener

The Hawks enter the GLVC Tournament with a 17-11 record
The Rockhurst men's basketball team will face Missouri-St. Louis in the first round of the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Basketball Tournament on Thursday at 2:15 p.m. at Hyland Arena on the Lindenwood University campus in St. Charles, Missouri.

Rockhurst (17-11, 11-9 GLVC) enters the GLVC Tournament as the No. 7 seed while UMSL (17-10, 15-5 GLVC) is the No. 2 seed.

The winner will advance to the GLVC Tournament semifinals to face the winner of No. 3 seed Upper Iowa and No. 6 Truman State on Saturday at 2:15 p.m.

Rockhurst is returning to the GLVC Tournament for the second time in the last three seasons and 11th time overall. Thursday's contest will not only be a matchup from earlier this season, but also from the Hawks' last appearance in the GLVC Tournament.

The Hawks won 88-71 in their most recent game against the Tritons on Jan. 11 in St. Louis, but fell to UMSL in the GLVC Tournament quarterfinals 92-58 on March 3, 2023, in St. Charles. Overall, the all-time matchup is tied at 27 wins apiece, as Rockhurst has won four of the last five matchups.

Rockhurst split their final two regular season games last week, falling 67-65 to McKendree in the final seconds on Thursday before winning 81-73 last Saturday over Illinois Springfield. Daniel Carr notched his sixth double-double of the season by leading the Hawks with 16 points and 14 rebounds against the Prairie Stars.

UMSL finished the regular season with wins over Truman State on Feb. 22 (86-72) and Drury (66-60) last Thursday. The Tritons enter the GLVC Tournament on a seven-game winning streak and winners of nine of their last 10.

For the fourth year in a row, all GLVC Championship Tournament action will be streamed live for $12 per game or $35 for the full tournament on GLVCSN.com, the GLVCSN iOS and Android mobile apps, and GLVCSN OTT apps on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV. More broadcast details will be shared the week of the event.

All spectators attending in person will be required to pre-purchase tickets online at GLVCsports.com/tickets. No cash will be accepted on site.
