The Rockhurst men's basketball team travels to Liberty, Missouri to face crosstown rival William Jewell on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Hawks won their first meeting with Jewell, 70-64, at Mason-Halpin Field House on Dec. 5, 2024.

Rockhurst (16-5, 9-4 GLVC) comes into the rematch with the Cardinals on the Hawks' second three-game winning streak of the season and in second place in the GLVC standings.

Last Thursday, Rockhurst defeated Truman State 76-65 behind a balanced scoring attack that saw five Hawks score in double figures. Jesse White led the way with 19 points and Jaylen Wesley added 16 points. Brian Hawthorne, Daniel Carr and Jaden Flournoy each scored 12 points. Carr also recorded 13 rebounds to secure his fifth double-double of the season.

The Hawks used a 55-point second half in route to a 78-77 comeback victory over Quincy last Saturday that saw Rockhurst trail by 10 heading into halftime. In the second half, Rockhurst shot 56.25 percent (18-of-32) and was 93.75 percent (15-of-16) from the free throw line.

William Jewell has won of two of its last four games. On Thursday, the Cardinals won 86-70 over Southwest Baptist to improve to 7-14 overall and 4-9 in conference play. Jewell fell 65-55 to Truman State last Saturday.

The Hawks lead the all-time series 91-68. Jewell had won four consecutive games against Rockhurst prior to the Rockhurst win back on Dec. 5.
