Four Hawks named GCAA All-America Scholars

Rockhurst's Ben Elgas, Andrew Park, David Schilp and Caleb Schmid were named 2024 All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

To be eligible for Division II All-America Scholar status, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically, participate in at least 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 78.0 and maintain a minimum cumula­tive grade point average of 3.20.

Elgas, a two-time All-America Scholar, led the team with a 74.5 stroke average over 28 rounds. The junior from Leawood, Kansas finished second at the Kansas City Cup and had eight Top 20 finishes.

Park averaged 76.4 strokes over 25 rounds. The senior from Lawrence, Kansas placed in the top 20 in three events.

Schilp, a two-time All-America Scholar, averaged 75.1 strokes over 25 rounds. The junior from St. Louis, Missouri posted three top 10 finishes.

Schmid, a three-time All-America Scholar, averaged 74.9 strokes over 26 rounds. The senior from Emporia, Kansas placed in the top 20 in seven events.
