Truman State hosts GLVC Outdoor Championships

This is the first year of the Rockhurst track and field program
The 2024 GLVC Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place at Stokes Stadium and Gardner Track on the campus of Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, May 2-4.
 
This year's event will mark the 27th year for the GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships and the ninth consecutive season it will be streamed live and free on all GLVCSN platforms.
 
Rockhurst will have 15 men and eight women competing at the GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The meet will start on Thursday afternoon with the first half of the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon, along with men's and women's hammer throw, which will crown the first champions of the event, before the finals of the 10,000-meter run begins later tonight at 7:30. GLVCSN Coverage will begin at approximately 7:15 for the 10K races.

Friday will be a full day of activity with the multi-events starting at 9 AM, select field event finals beginning at 1 PM, and prelims of running events kicking off at 3:30. Friday's festivities will conclude with the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase, starting at 7:10. GLVCSN coverage will begin at approximately 1 PM, covering as much activity on the field events before the running preliminaries begin.
 
Championship Saturday starts at 9 AM with the remaining field events, and then running finals begin at 12 noon. The meet will close with the 4x400-meter relay at approximately 3:55 with closing ceremonies to start around 4:30. GLVCSN will be live to cover the entire day's action, starting at 8:50.

GLVC track and field fans will be treated to approximately 15 hours of live and free coverage over the three-day span, with play-by-play by Tyler Madsen, who has handled those duties for this event the last four seasons. All running events will be broadcast during the meet, while select shots for all field events will be shown, as available. All broadcasting coverage is subject to change based on inclement weather forecasted for the area on Thursday and Saturday.
 
Following the conclusion of the meet, GLVCSN will remain online to bring fans the GLVC Championships awards ceremony, which will honor the Track Athlete, Field Athlete, Freshman, and Coach of the Year on both the men's and women's side, along with the 2024 GLVC team champions.

For spectators planning to attend in person, a single-day admission on Thursday is $7.50 for adults and $5 for both students (with ID) and youth ages 6-12th grade, while Friday and Saturday's admission will be $15 for adults and $5 for students and youth. Children 5 and under are admitted free all three days. Tickets must be pre-purchased online at GLVCsports.com/tickets, and no cash will be accepted on site.
