Rockhurst men post 4-3 win in match play event

The Rockhurst men's golf team defeated Bemidji State by a 4-3 score in a match play event Thursday at the Sycamore Ridge Golf Course in Spring Hill, Kansas.

Mike Wolski, Andrew Park, David Schilp and Elijah Shirley each posted wins for the Hawks. Shirley secured the team victory by making a five-foot bogey putt on the 18th hole to win his match by one shot (75-76).

Schilp shot a 71 to win by six shots to give the Hawks a 3-2 lead. Wolski shot a 76 and won by three shots, while Park fired a 73 to post a seven-shot victory to put Rockhurst in front, 2-1, after three matches.

Ben Elgas (76) and Caleb Schmid (77) each lost by six shots. Mac Piles (78) fell short by three shots.

The Hawks will compete in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Golf Championships at the Paradise Pointe Golf Club in Smithville, Missouri on Sunday and Monday.
