Jackson Dearing and Jake Canent combined for 13 strikeouts to lead Rockhurst to a 4-2 victory over Upper Iowa Sunday in the GLVC series finale at Loyola Park.

Dearing (1-1) struck out seven while shutting out the Peacocks on three hits over 5.1 winnings. Canent collected his third save of the season while striking out six and allowing two runs on five hits over the final 3.2 innings.

Drew Cornelison and Michael Laudando each collected two hits and drove in one run. Cornelison singled home a run in the second and Laudando hit an RBI double in the seventh.

Avery Garmon gave the Hawks a 3-0 lead in the third with a run-scoring single. Austin Murray added a single and double to the 10-hit attack.

The Hawks opened the four-game series with a 5-4 loss to Upper Iowa on Friday. The Peacocks led 5-1 before Drew Cornelison hit a three-run home run to right field in the eighth.

Patrick Wind and Cole Wagner led the 10-hit RU attack with two hits apiece. Gavyn Dockery (1-1) allowed three runs on seven hits over 5.0 innings.

Upper Iowa swept Saturday's twinbill, 3-2 and 9-3. Michael Laudando pitched a complete game and got two hits in the opener. The Hawks were held to six hits in the second game.

The Hawks (11-8, 3-5 GLVC) play at Northwest Missouri State on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
