Depth will carry Hawks going into their 11th season

The Rockhurst women's lacrosse program begins Year 11 tonight at McKendree with an experienced group of offensive and defensive returnees from last season.

Head coach Molly McCourt believes this team will have more depth at each position. "Our midfield group is pretty strong. We have a lot of new faces and we are bringing back several players from injuries. I think we have a strong freshman class."

Senior captain Dani Maby will lead the offensive attack. The two-time All-Conference selection scored 46 points last year on 27 goals and 19 assists. Joining Mabry up front will be senior Catey Roux, junior Reagan Danner and sophomore Payton Thomas.

Mackenzie Blair is the leader in the midfield as she returns for her fifth season. The second team All-GLVC honoree scored 32 points on 20 goals and 12 assists last year.

Rounding out the midfielders are senior Kelly Marion, junior Page Yehling, sophomores Aubrie Smith and Kharis Perona, and freshman Anna Loeffelman.

On defense, the Hawks will be led by junior Tori Julian, sophomore Abby Gerstner and freshman Audra Yoder. Mae Beins will be the starting goalie heading into her junior year.

Yehling, Perona and Loeffelman will take care of the majority of the draw controls.

Rockhurst hosts Northern Michigan in its season opener Monday at 5 p.m.
