Men's Basketball Tip-Off Social set for Oct. 19

Hall of Fame place-kicker Jan Stenerud is this year's guest speaker

Coach Drew Diener and the men's basketball team will kick off their 2023-24 season by hosting the Tip Off Social presented by the John J. Sullivan Charitable Trust on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. in Mason-Halpin Field House. This annual event provides alumni and fans the opportunity to meet Coach Diener and members of the team while getting a preview of the season ahead.

This year's event will also feature Hall of Famer and Super Bowl champion Jan Stenerud as the guest speaker. Stenerud spent 19 seasons in the AFL/NFL, primarily with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was a six-time All-Pro selection and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991 as the first place-kicker to receive the honor.

Past guest speakers at this event have included Chris and Conner Teahan of the Kansas Jayhawks, the 2002 Rockhurst Hawks NCAA Sweet 16 team, ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi, and 1965 Heisman Trophy winner Mike Garrett.
