Shirley leads Hawks at GLVC Championships

Elijah Shirley led the Hawks with a 54-hole score of 230.

The Rockhurst men's golf team finished 10th at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Golf Championships Monday at the Paradise Pointe Golf Course in Smithville, Missouri. The Hawks completed the three rounds of stroke play at 942 (318-312-312).

Elijah Shirley tied for 21st individually to lead the Hawks. Shirley fired a final-round 74 to finish at 230 after shooting a 79 and 77 in the first two rounds.

Ben Elgas finished 27th at 232 (80-74-78) and David Schilp tied for 37th with a 237 score (79-78-80). Caleb Schmid placed 47th at 243 (80-83-80) and Mike Wolski tied for 52nd at 248 (81-83-84) to round out the Rockhurst team.

Missouri-St. Louis finished first in stroke play at 867, followed by Missouri S&T at 885. McKendree was third at 889, while Maryville was fourth at 906. McKendree defeated UMSL on a tie-breaker in the match play finals on Tuesday.
