Men meet UMSL in GLVC Tournament opener

The Hawks are seeded fourth in the GLVC Men's Basketball Tournament.
The Rockhurst Hawks will meet Missouri-St. Louis in the first round of the 2023 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Basketball Tournament on Friday at noon at the Hyland Arena on the Lindenwood University campus in St. Charles, Missouri.

Rockhurst (16-12, 11-9 GLVC) is seeded fourth in the tournament, while the Tritons (19-9, 11-9 GLVC) are the fifth seed. The Hawks beat the Tritons at home, 88-81 on Jan. 5, and at USML, 85-77, on Feb. 4.

The winner will advance to the GLVC Tournament semifinals on Saturday and play the winner of No. 1 seeded Indianapolis and eighth-seeded Quincy.

Rockhurst is returning to the GLVC Tournament for the second year in a row, losing to Truman State (88-62) last year in Kirksville, Missouri. The Hawks have a 1-9 record in nine previous trips to the GLVC Tournament.

Junior forward Rich Byhre ranks first in scoring (18.3 pg), second in rebounding (8.3 pg), 11th in blocks (0.8) and 15th in 3-point field goals made (1.7 pg) in the GLVC. Freshman forward Timaris Brown ranks 24th in scoring (11.7 pg) and ninth in rebounding (6.1 pg) in the GLVC.

For the second year in a row, all GLVC Championship Tournament action will be streamed live for $15 per game or $35 for the full tournament on GLVCSN.com, the GLVCSN iOS and Android mobile apps, and GLVCSN OTT apps on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV. More broadcast details will be shared the week of the event.
 
All spectators attending in person will be required to pre-purchase tickets online at GLVCsports.com/tickets. No cash will be accepted on site.
